Philosophy Links

Below you will find a list of links along with a brief description of the site to which they will redirect you. Though there are only a few here now, I will continue to add them (and please feel free to leave suggestions in the Comment section/box below). The three that are listed beneath are excellent resources if you are just learning about philosophy as a field of study. Any of these encyclopedias will be helpful in researching and understanding essential terms, sub-fields within the discipline, and famous philosophers and their ideas.

The Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy

  • An exhaustive peer-reviewed philosophy resource that is hosted by The University of Tennessee at Martin. I've read many an article on this website over the years.
  • Another equally expansive peer-reviewed resource that is hosted at Stanford University. This site also has access to two additional sister universities abroad.
  • When I was in college some years ago, Routledge seemed to be the most authoritative reference resource for anything that had to do with philosophy. Granted, these books were in print and effectively equivalent to Encyclopedia Britannica in terms of size and scope, although specializing in philosophy. Not sure if print editions are available any longer, but this is their website. Some articles can be viewed, but full access requires a subscription.
